Rick Abell Loves Garfield School

Post by dl meckes »

I've got WOIO on and saw a beautiful helicopter shot of Garfield school with a very positive recounting of keeping the original facade, then they pulled back to show the huge new school and talked about the progress that is being made on the field.

Abell glowed over the new building.

As well he should. These new buildings are not only well thought out, but well executed.

Just as the "saved" the Garfield facade, those taking a look at the entrance to Harding will notice that the carved sandstone names that ringed Madison elementary are a part of the front entrance wall.

All of Lakewood deserves to be proud. A new era of education is about to enacted. Thousands of Lakewood children, many teachers and the community will directly benefit.

Every member of our community is encouraged to attend (with pride) the commissioning ceremonies this Sunday, August 19th.

Harding Middle School 12:00 p.m.
Hayes Elementary School 1:00 p.m.
Harrison Elementary School 2:00 p.m.
Garfield Middle School 3:00 p.m.

...and while we mark the significance of these events, please take note of Horace Mann, Emerson and Lakewood High School where efforts to modernize those facilities is about to begin!

Thank you Lakewood!
