Lakewood Schools and the Ohio OGT Results

Post by Grace O'Malley »

I was able to view an Ohio OGT test result letter that was sent to parents of students who took the test this past March.

The student was a Lakewood HS sophomore, so it was their first attempt. Happily, they passed all five sections with above average results.

The letter shows the student's achievement in each of the five test areas: Reading, Math, Writing, Science, and Social Studies. It also shows the state average and the school and district averages.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Lakewood district and school averages (which are the same as we have only one HS) were all above the state averages. In fact, all were ABOVE the Proficient level.

I wrote down the following:

Reading State average of 423, which is proficient. LHS was 429 which places it in the accelerated level.

Math State average 427, Lakewood 437, both accelerated.

Writing State average 428, proficient. Lakewood average was 436, accelerated.

Science State average 417, proficient. Lakewood was at 427, accelerated.

Social Studies State was 424, proficient. Lakewood was 435. accelerated.

Unless I am misreading these results, it looks like Lakewood students did pretty well on the tests.
